The composer John Orlando Parry was the son of John Parry (Bardd Alaw) (1776-1851). Born in London in 1810, he studied the pedal harp with the famous N C Bochsa. He also became well known as a singer, delighting his audiences with his light-hearted musical impersonations. Like his father before him he was always welcome at Llanover, where he was a great favourite. He composed several partsongs for the Llanover Choir, and he composed this harp tune when he was staying at Llanover in late summer 1865. He died in 1879. |
